BCNRM 2201: Cleaner Production
Course for keeping a clean environment while manufacturing and doing any enterprise in the world
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is about the design of products and manufacturing processes in harmony with natural ecological cycles, the elimination of toxic waste and inputs and the use of renewable energy and materials. Cleaner production is a rapidly growing, internationally recognized discipline, which enables business and other organizations to contribute to sustainable development. Its goal is to avoid generating waste in production and consumption systems while minimizing the use of energy, materials, water and other natural resources. Cleaner Production improves the economic and environmental efficiency ('eco-efficiency') of production systems, thereby achieving reductions in production costs, energy consumption, and pollution and health risks. A course to develop skills to achieve cleaner production is therefore vital to society today.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
To provide future decision-makers in business, government and other organizations with insights, tools and practical skills to enable them to contribute to the achievement of environmentally friendly production systems.
