Course Description

This course aims at utilization of both lectures and Laboratory practice to introduce the nature and uses of computers. It Introduces students to Computers and Computer Systems

Objectives of the course

1)      To introduce  basics of computers (processing, software, hardware, memory, input/output devices)

2)      To Introduce students to operating systems (Windows, Linux, UNIX)

3)      To Introduce students to computer Applications (word processors, spread, presentations, databases)

 

Expected outcomes

By the end of the course students should be able to;

·         Produce graduates who are computer literate and be able to apply computer in their daily work and in their work places.

·         Shall be able to operate the various computer packages including Microsoft word, excel internet etc.

•           Individual presentation

Course evaluation/assessment

•Students will be required to write a final examination marked out of 60%

•Students will be required to sit for tests, do written coursework and make individual presentations which will be marked out of 40%
